Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Wallet for XMR ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use the App on your iPhone or iPad. Wallet for XMR is designed to be a self-custody Monero (XMR) wallet with a privacy-first approach: we do not operate user accounts, we do not use third-party analytics or advertising, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
This policy is written to align with Apple's App Store guidelines, including the App Privacy Details (Nutrition Label) framework and the App Tracking Transparency requirements.
1. Data we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs that identify you.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites and we do not present the App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do not track.
- We do not have servers that store your wallet, seed phrase, balances, or transaction history.
2. Data stored on your device
The App stores the following information locally on your device only:
- Your Monero wallet file(s), including your seed phrase and private keys, encrypted at rest by iOS.
- Your app preferences (selected fiat currency, remote node settings, PIN/Face ID lock preference).
- Transaction history that has already been recorded on the Monero blockchain and is visible to your wallet.
This data never leaves your device by our design. If you enable iCloud device backup, iOS may include app data in your encrypted device backup according to your iOS settings; we do not control or access those backups.
3. Network connections the App makes
To function as a Monero wallet, the App must communicate over the internet in limited ways:
- Monero node connection. The App connects to a Monero node (a default node or a custom remote node you configure) to sync the blockchain and broadcast transactions. The node operator may see your IP address and the requests your wallet sends. We do not operate a logging service on top of this connection.
- Fiat exchange rates. If you enable a fiat currency display, the App fetches public exchange-rate data from a public rate provider. This request contains no wallet information beyond the currency you selected.
For maximum privacy, you can configure a custom remote node you trust, or route your device's traffic through a VPN or Tor.
4. Camera and Face ID
- Camera. Used only when you tap the QR scanner to read a Monero payment request. Camera imagery is processed on-device and is not stored or transmitted.
- Face ID / Touch ID. If you enable the app lock, iOS performs the biometric check locally. We never see or receive your biometric data.
5. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Deleting your wallet and data
You can remove your local wallet data at any time using the Delete Wallet option inside the App, or by deleting the App from your device. Once local data is deleted, it cannot be recovered by us. Transactions already recorded on the Monero blockchain remain on the blockchain and are outside of our control.
7. Third parties
The App does not integrate advertising networks or third-party analytics SDKs. The only third parties involved in normal use are: (a) the Monero node you choose to connect to, and (b) the public exchange-rate provider used to display fiat values, if enabled.
8. Your rights
Because we do not collect personal information about you, we generally have no personal data to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. You control all wallet data directly on your device.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Contact
Questions about this policy can be sent to the support contact listed on the App's App Store page.
Important: Wallet for XMR is not an official Monero project and is not affiliated with The Monero Project. You are solely responsible for safely storing your seed phrase. If you lose it, your funds cannot be recovered.
